APRIL 14 / 07:32 AM / DAY ZERO + 1
THE DAY
AFTER ZERO
The world didn’t end.
The rules did.
Overnight, the world’s financial records vanished. Accounts. Debts. Transactions. The systems that once verified wealth and ownership went dark. The buildings remained. The food remained. The people remained. But the rules holding society together were suddenly open to question.
Nothing physical disappeared.
Hospitals still stand. Power plants still run. Warehouses still hold food. But who has the right to distribute it? Who keeps working when wages cannot be paid? What happens when an old claim to ownership can no longer be verified?
This is not a story about rebuilding a destroyed world. It’s about deciding how an existing world should work.
Everyone has a version of justice.
THE RESTORER
“We need to rebuild the institutions that made civilization possible.”
THE REBUILDER
“We have a chance to create something fairer.”
THE FREEFOLK
“Maybe the mistake was believing everything needed an owner.”
No vision comes without trade-offs. No faction owns the truth.
A world that remembers.
People have needs, loyalties, beliefs and memories. They cooperate, disagree, organize and change their minds. New economies emerge from everyday choices. Your actions can reshape a community — even when the consequences take days to become visible.
You don’t follow a story. You become part of a society that creates one.
DAY 2: THE FOOD QUESTION
The town’s largest supermarket is closed. Its former owner insists the food still belongs to the company. Outside, two hundred hungry people are waiting. You’re part of an emergency meeting. What should happen next?
(function(){const box=document.getElementById(“tdaz-choice”),result=document.getElementById(“tdaz-result”);if(!box||!result)return;const outcomes={A:”You protected continuity. Some feel reassured; others fear delay will cost lives.”,B:”You prioritized hunger. Some call it justice; others see an alarming precedent.”,C:”You gave people a voice. Some welcome legitimacy; others worry the process is too slow.”,D:”You linked food to contribution. Some welcome fairness; others ask who cannot work.”};box.addEventListener(“click”,function(e){const b=e.target.closest(“button[data-choice]”);if(!b)return;box.querySelectorAll(“button”).forEach(x=>x.style.borderColor=”#46565a”);b.style.borderColor=”#8DFFB3″;result.textContent=”YOUR DECISION HAS CONSEQUENCES. “+outcomes[b.dataset.choice]+” No choice is without a cost.”})})();The experiment has begun.
THE DAY AFTER ZERO is an independent social simulation game in early development. Our first goal is to build a small town where people form relationships, negotiate new rules and create unexpected histories — without a predetermined script.
More updates will follow as the first simulation takes shape.
